Big thinking is more than thoughts. It’s a feeling. I asked Ben, Dave, Graham, Liam, and Nick what it feels like for them and this is my interpretation of their response:
There is a moment, when thinking cracks wide open.
Inside, a deity or a muse awaits.
I can’t see or hear them, but they arrive on the scene,
pushing the boundaries of possibility and expanding my view.
My imagination and senses sharpen.
Adrenaline courses and eyes sparkle, even if no one is around to see them.
There is a sense of urgency; a need to explore this terrain before the fog rolls in.
I break off into a run.
The world I know is behind me, but a blur.
A waterfall of solutions appears,
flowing with ease. I’m thirsty.
Excited and terrified, rejuvenated and insecure.
Simultaneous and conflicted feelings means I’m onto something.
It means anything possible.
And eventually?
“Fuck it. I won’t know if I don’t try.”
An idea becomes an option.
